Choose the correct email object so mail reaches the intended people without creating unnecessary mailboxes.
Applies to: SiteWorx hosting email
Choose the right option
| Option | Use it for | Does it store mail? |
|---|---|---|
| Mailbox | An address with its own sign-in, password and folders. | Yes. |
| Alias / forwarder | Sending one address to another destination. | No, unless a separate mailbox also exists. |
| Email group | Delivering one address to several approved recipients. | No. |
| Catch-all | Receiving mail sent to otherwise nonexistent addresses at the domain. | Only in the destination mailbox; generally not recommended. |
Create or review an address
- Sign in to SiteWorx and open Hosting Features > Email.
- Open Mailboxes, Aliases, Groups or the catch-all setting as appropriate.
- Confirm the address does not already exist as another object.
- Add the required destination or members.
- Save and test from an external address.
Important: Catch-all addresses attract mistyped mail and spam, consume storage and can hide configuration mistakes. Create named addresses instead wherever possible.
