Create an email forwarder Print

  • email, forwarding, hosting
  • 0

A forwarder sends messages arriving at one hosted address to another address.

Applies to: SiteWorx hosting email

Create the forwarder

  1. Sign in to SiteWorx.
  2. Open Hosting Features > Email > Aliases.
  3. Select the option to add an alias or forwarder.
  4. Enter the source address and the destination address exactly.
  5. Save the rule.
  6. Send a test from an unrelated external address and confirm the destination receives it.

Important delivery considerations

  • Forwarded mail can fail external anti-spoofing checks even when the original message was legitimate.
  • For important mail, using a mailbox and collecting it with IMAP is generally more reliable than forwarding everything to another provider.
  • Avoid forwarding loops and chains through several providers.
  • A forwarder does not create a mailbox unless a mailbox is created separately.

Common problems

SymptomLikely causeWhat to do
The source address rejects mail. The alias was not saved, conflicts with another object or the domain MX is elsewhere.Check aliases, mailboxes, groups and public MX records.
Some forwarded messages never arrive. The destination provider rejected the forwarded message based on authentication or reputation.Check the destination spam/quarantine and use a normal IMAP mailbox for critical delivery.
