An automatic response can acknowledge incoming mail during an absence or for a service address.
Applies to: SiteWorx hosting mailboxes
Create the response
- Sign in to SiteWorx.
- Open Hosting Features > Email > Mailboxes.
- Edit the required mailbox.
- Open the vacation-message or automatic-response settings.
- Enter a clear subject and message without confidential information.
- Set start and end dates where available.
- Save the change and send one external test message.
Write a safe response
- Do not disclose unnecessary travel dates, internal contacts or security arrangements.
- Give an alternative contact only where that person has agreed.
- State when a response is expected rather than promising an outcome.
- Disable the message when it is no longer required.
Common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The sender receives repeated replies. | A loop exists between two automatic systems. | Disable one side and remove any forwarder causing the loop. |
| No response is sent. | The feature is disabled, the date window is wrong or the original message was filtered before delivery. | Check the mailbox settings, dates and spam/quarantine result. |
