Mailbox use counts toward both its individual quota and the hosting plan’s shared storage allowance.
Applies to: SiteWorx hosting email and shared hosting storage
Check the cause
- Sign in to SiteWorx and open Hosting Features > Email > Mailboxes.
- Check the mailbox quota and current use.
- Check the overall SiteWorx disk usage because website files, databases, logs, email and account-created backups share storage.
- In webmail, review large messages and the Sent, Trash and Junk folders.
- Confirm retention requirements before deleting business or organisational records.
Reduce or increase usage safely
- Export messages that must be retained before deleting them from the server.
- Empty Trash and Junk only after confirming nothing is required.
- Increase the mailbox quota only when sufficient hosting-plan storage remains.
- Upgrade the hosting plan if legitimate ongoing use exceeds the shared allowance.
- Do not switch to POP merely to hide a quota problem; POP can remove the server copy and disrupt other devices.
Common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The mailbox quota is increased but mail still fails. | The whole hosting account is at its storage or inode limit. | Review all SiteWorx disk usage and remove or archive data safely. |
| Deleted messages do not release space. | They remain in Trash, another folder or a local client has not synchronised deletions. | Empty the relevant server-side folder and allow IMAP synchronisation to complete. |
