After changing a mailbox password in SiteWorx, update every saved incoming and outgoing credential.
Applies to: Any desktop, mobile, website or device using a hosting mailbox
Update the saved credentials
- Stop repeated send/receive attempts on devices that still have the old password.
- Open the account’s incoming server settings and replace the saved password.
- Open the outgoing SMTP authentication settings and replace the password there as well.
- Confirm the username remains the complete email address.
- Save, then test receiving and sending.
- Repeat for every other device, website form, scanner or application using the mailbox.
Common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The account keeps locking again. | Another device or application is still retrying the old password. | Temporarily disconnect clients, identify each user of the mailbox and update them one at a time. |
| Receiving works but sending asks for the password. | The outgoing server stores a separate credential. | Edit the SMTP authentication entry and use the same complete mailbox username and new password. |
