What happens when a seven-day hosting trial expires Print

  • renewal, hosting, trial, cancellation, backup
  • 0

The trial is configured as a fixed-term service and may be terminated automatically at the end of day seven if it has not been upgraded.

Applies to: Trial upgrades, expiry and data retention

A trial must be upgraded before it reaches the fixed termination date if the customer wants to keep using it. Plan the upgrade early enough to confirm billing, domain and service changes before the deadline.

Before you start

  • Sign in to the Customer Portal using accurate customer details.
  • Do not place important or irreplaceable data on a temporary trial service.

What you need to do

  1. Check the service activation and termination dates in the Customer Portal immediately after approval.
  2. Download website files and export databases before the deadline even when an upgrade is planned.
  3. Complete any upgrade invoice and domain change early enough to resolve problems before expiry.
  4. Do not rely on the trial hostname or service remaining reachable after the fixed term.
  5. If the service has terminated, open one support ticket promptly and state whether a paid upgrade was attempted.
  6. Rebuild from your independent copy if the trial data is no longer retained or recoverable.

Common problems

SymptomLikely causeWhat to do
The trial order remains pending.Trials require manual review or the requested hostname/customer details need checking.Wait for the order decision and respond to any verification request; do not place duplicate trial orders.
The trial hostname or account stops working. The seven-day fixed term ended, the service was restricted for abuse, or the trial was not upgraded in time.Check the service status and termination date, then contact support promptly about any still-retained data without assuming recovery is possible.

Important notes

  • Trial data retention after termination is not guaranteed. The trial must never hold the only copy of important data.
  • Trial hostnames use the format example.trial.tudornet.uk. The trial is temporary and should not hold the only copy of important data.
