Cancelling hosting, an addon or a subscription does not automatically transfer, cancel or disable renewal of the associated domain name.
Renewal, upgrade and cancellation requests affect future service delivery and billing. Check the effective date, data-retention implications and any non-refundable third-party charges before confirming a change.
Key information
| Hosting cancellation | Ends the hosting service and may remove website, database and mailbox data after the effective date. |
|---|---|
| Domain auto-renew off | Prevents automatic renewal but leaves the domain registered until its expiry and registry lifecycle take effect. |
| Domain transfer | Moves the registrar responsible for the domain; it does not move hosting files or mailboxes. |
Before you start
- Sign in to the Customer Portal using the account owner or an authorised user.
- Have the relevant invoice, service, domain or ticket number available.
- Download anything that must be retained and confirm whether the action is reversible.
How to use this service
- List every component used by the project: domain, hosting, email, SSL, backup, monitoring and other addons.
- Decide which components will end, which will move and which must remain active during the transition.
- Submit a cancellation request for each service that should stop, choosing the correct immediate or end-of-term option where available.
- For a domain that should not renew, change its auto-renew setting separately and record the expiry date.
- For a domain that should move, complete the appropriate registrar transfer rather than allowing it to expire.
- Download required data and verify the replacement website and email service before the old hosting termination date.
Confirm the result
- Every service has an explicit keep, transfer or cancel decision and no domain is left to expire by accident.
Common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting was cancelled but invoices continue. | A separate domain or addon remains active, or the cancellation was scheduled for end of term. | Open each line item and check its individual status and next due date. |
| The domain still points to cancelled hosting. | DNS does not change automatically when hosting ends. | Update nameservers or records after the replacement service is ready. |
